Modern timber frame construction requires the use of specialist membranes. Our range of Vapour Control Layers and Breather Membranes have been designed to meet these requirements, helping to control the movement of vapour and prevent the build up of condensation and subsequent damage within the framework.

Initially a Vapour Control Layer is used on the warm side (inside) of the insulation to control the passage of water vapour into the insulation layer, preventing moisture build up. Secondly a Breather Membrane is used on the cold side (outside) of the insulation to help the controlled progress of water vapour out of the construction. At the same time the use of these membranes helps to increase the efficiency of the insulation by preventing the movement of cold air through the insulate layer.
