VCLs and Air Barriers
Vapour Control Layers (VCLs) and Air Barriers are essential components in modern energy-saving building designs.
Air Barriers ensure that the building envelope is properly sealed to control ventilation and prevent heat loss in compliance with Building Regulations Part L. Installed on the warm side of insulation, Vapour Control Layers (VCLs) protect insulates from interstitial condensation. As impermeable air-barriers, VCLs also increase the building’s air-tightness.
UltraBlock is a range of thermo-reflective reinforced Vapour Barriers incorporating encapsulated aluminium foil or metalised barrier layers to maximise energy efficiency. The reflective foil surface improves the insulation characteristics of the installation reflecting heat back in to the building. FR suffixes indicate Flame Retardant grades.
Powerlon VCLs are polyethylene-based vapour control membranes reinforced with a mono-filament scrim to provide sufficient tensile strength in wall and roof installations.
